Work Experience Places
We are sorry but we are unable to offer work experience places at Radio St. Helier. As we only operate in the evenings and at weekends and do not have any full time staff during the daytime, it is not possible for us to take on work experience students.
Get Involved
We are interested in receiving applications from anyone who is at least 17 years old, who is willing to give their service, time and talents so as to further the objectives of Radio St Helier. Although experience is always useful, it is by no means essential, as training in our studio is part of the probationary period. There are six main roles at Radio St Helier:
- Programme Assistant
- Request Collector
- Programme Presenter
- Technician/Engineer
- Administrator
- Fundraiser
Although you may be assigned to one particular task, this does not mean you cannot help in any of the other areas. From time to time you may be asked to help out on a programme other than the one you usually work on, or to help at an outside fundraising event. While this is not compulsory, we do expect all members to attend and help out at up to four outside events a year.
New recruits who join the station do so for a probationary period of six months which is usually spent as a programme assistant. Upon successful and satisfactory completion of this period, you may be offered full membership with station voting rights. At this point, if you wish to present 'ON AIR' you will be invited to submit a demo to the Programme Controller.
If you are interested in joining us please download and complete the application form and return it to the address shown. If you are unable to download or print the form please contact us and we will send you an application form in the post. An informal interview at the hospital will usually follow an application, where we can find out more about each other.
